Self-defense is a fight against an opponent that you have to win. You are not a victim….You can take control of your future and handle potentially life-threatening situations by learning the physical side of self-defense and by using your mind in new ways.
Learning how to protect yourself in a range of potential situations can't be mastered in one or two classes. The information and techniques you need must be practiced many times over a significant length of time before they become second nature and effective.
Both the Women's Self-Defense classes and the Cobra Combat classes are meant to be fun while teaching essential lifesaving techniques and strategies.
Learning these strategies depends on each individual's pace. There is no designated amount of time on how long something should take to learn. The only thing required is the right mindset to achieve your goals. For example, when a baby tries to walk, the time it takes to learn is irrelevant. If the baby falls the first few times, we encourage him or her to keep trying until they can walk, no matter how long it takes. The same holds true here!
With the right attitude and tenacity, you will learn and grow to your highest potential.
The Women's Self-Defense classes are all about learning self-defense for life threatening and non-life threatening situations while being in a controlled and friendly atmosphere.
These classes are for women ages 13 and older. There will be minor physical contact with partners, and there will be no sparring in this class.
In our self defense classes, students learn how to strike by hitting hanging bags and body shields and hand targets . . . and instructors!
Students also learn to throw hand strikes and leg strikes to all parts of the body to gain real-life experience.
The Cobra Combat Advanced Self Defense program is a self-defense class for both men and women that emphasizes learning how to fight and how to defend yourself against one or more attackers.
This class is for men and women ages 13 and older.
Students will learn a combination of techniques from Tang Soo Do and other martial arts styles minus some of the traditional aspects. This class is intended to be more hands-on than the Women's Self Defense class.
Unlike our Women's Self Defense class, there is controlled sparring in Cobra Combat. All sparring is conducted in a friendly and safe environment.
This class includes a ranking system where chevron patches are awarded from white to black. Chevrons indicate ranking and are equivalent to belts in the traditional karate belt system.
